Q-Tip + David Banner + Kid Sister

Y'all know the kid Rembert Browne? If you don't, you should probably get familiar. He's that dude that runs that there 500 Days Asunder blog. Impressive, no? Well Rem and I are throwing a party in the basement of Gallery Bar (120 Orchard) tonight. Rembert lives to put his team on (both his words and mine), but the Hawks are well eliminated from the playoffs. So I mean. Yea. I'm hoping dude's gonna help me celebrate my Mavs tonight. I mean. Yea. Let's do this. Sports!

Anyways. No idea what's gonna happen tonight. Obviously gonna rep some Dallas hip-hop. Tum Tum, Big Chief, Dorrough, Damaged Good$, etc. Beyond that, I'm sure I'll play mad Katy and Kylie. And "Vibrant Thing." Hopefully people will dance and give me tips. Maybe some of my friends will come. Maybe you'll come. Maybe I have neither friends nor followers. That's probably more likely, to be entirely honest. Who knows?

So yea. I'll probably play this Kid Sister and David Banner cut too. Or maybe I'll just get housed and rinse Wayne Wonder on repeat. I have quite literally no idea. Tonight's gonna be quite the adventure. I hope you're keen to join.

Best,
Greg

Jim-E Stack + Pants Dance

Alright. So I've been DJing with the Pants Dance crew once a month since. December? I think? Regardless, each and every party has been a great time. Everyone plays fun, interesting, energizing dance music. Then I play a bunch of Kylie and Katy Perry and Madonna because, well, that's what I do. Happens.

Anyhow, the party's moving on to a new venue tonight. Used to go in on Bedlam, tonight we give it a whirl in The Gallery at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker). And we're joined by superstar producer gent Jim-E Stack. Should be radical. Say "Pants Dance" at the door for free entry and to skip the line. Details here and here.

Jessica 6 + Brenmar

OK. So I guess Jessica 6 isn't exactly a new band. That said, they're new to me. New, fun, and exciting. In fact, I'm pretty sure that their "Freak the Night" is the best song ever written. That said, I couldn't find it on The YouTube. So "White Horse" it is. Another great song. Cool video as well. And oh hey, you can download it for free at their BandCamp page.

Next. The video for Brenmar's new cut "Taking it Down." Sexy song, mischievous video. But seriously. Great song, great video. I mean I say that a lot, but I really, really mean it this time. Super great stuff. Thanks to our friends over at Discobelle for putting us onto this video (and for releasing At It Again, of course). Buy the full At It Again release here.

Cosmo Baker + 101

OK. Tonight. Tonight is gonna be major, major, major. We've got one DJ celebrating an engagement and three DJs celebrating birthdays. We've got that open vodka bar from 10-11. It's free. Etc. Oh, and we've also got Cosmo Baker. Yea, this Cosmo Baker. The legend. Oh my goodness, goodness gracious, holy cow.

I mean. Like. I dunno. I'm not saying you have to come. It's just that. Like. What are you trying to get involved in that's gonna be better than this?

Pet Shop Boys

Totally inexplicable, but I've been listening to Pet Shop Boys' "West End Girls" on repeat this past week or so. I dunno. It's a great song (duh), but I can't quite explain why this week of all weeks was the week to go hardbody on a song from the middle of the '80s. Whatever. I could spit supposed facts about this track at you, but y'all might as well just check out the Wikipedia page yourselves. I'm lazy and I lack knowledge, neither of which concerns me.

Punks Jump Up + In Flagranti + Fully Fitted

Starting with a bloggy little something: Punks Jump Up's "Worse for Wear" remix. Not entirely sure what I mean by that. Like. This here tune reminds me of the kind of jam that I would've been stupid hype on in 2008 or so. Not that it's all too similar to any of the stuff I was swimming in a few years back. Crap. Per usual, I have no idea what I'm talking about. Anyways, jam:

Speaking of 2008. Remember Justice? Remember when Fully Fitted sampled Justice on their "100 Million" remix? Remember watching Rick Ross ride that airboat? God, yes please.

Gal: Mr. Birdman, what would you do if released?
Birdman: Make a lot of money.

Yes please, yes please.

Joe Maz + Danny Daze + Calvin Harris + Kelis + DJ Godfather

DJ Godfather's "Player Haters In Dis House” kinda bangs. Like it's heavy and aggressive and all that jazz. At least it was until Joe Maz and Danny Daze got their hands on it. Dudes turned it into something seriously warm and relaxing and stupendous. More info at Beezo Blog.

And then there's the new Calvin Harris cut with Kelis. And yea, I'm feeling it. Love Calvin, love Kelis, love this tune. That said, I could do without Kelis's vocals. Like I said, I love her. But like. Dunno. This feels like a quick mash-up to me. Still. Tune:
