Emynd + M83 + Lil Wayne + Rick Ross + Jack Beats

This box of PowerBars was "BEST BY 27OCT2011." Today is October 31st. I just ate one. Am I going to die? I'm not going to die, right? God. How embarrassing would that be? "Greg lived a long and fruitful life. Blah, blah, blah. He passed after eating an expired PowerBar." But yo. I bet the internet connection in heaven is aces. And there's no RIAA. Illington.

DJing a Halloween party tonight. Shook Ones. Gallery Bar. 120 Orchard. Eight till close. Normal music upstairs, internet music downstairs. This is gonna be Epicnosaurus Rex, no questions asked. Details here.

L-Vis 1990 + Para One + Teki Latex + Boyz in the Wood + M83

So then I met Ms. Breck Gordon in Edinburgh. Travelled with her to London. We got lost drinking wine on the train. Some dudes beat me up at Fabric. Was great. But like, "Where do we go tomorrow night?" So off to Scala for JME and TTC. We cop Cuizinier raver kid tees so we can be super adorable and match everywhere we go. And Breck flirts with him for a wee bit. It was totally super awesome!

L-Vis 1990 - Lost In Love (Boyz in the wood remix) by Boyz in the wood

OMG! It snowed in Brooklyn! It's gonna snow more! OMG, OMG! Gah, bleh. Snow is disgusting. The outdoors in general are disgusting. I'm OK with being outside between the hours of 8 PM and 8 AM. Because it's dark. And I can't see the trees. The squirrels. The pigeons. The people. I hate "outside," and I hate people. I like myself, the internet, and my cat. I also like water, bacon cheeseburgers, alcohol, milk, pasta, caesar salad, and potato noms. List is not exhaustive, but it's close.

Bobby O

Ugh. My friend got so, so, so mad at me yesterday. He was like, "Come to this party." Then he was all, "Wait, don't." And then after that he goes, "Actually, come!" Ugh, make up your mind. And he was all mad and stuff that I didn't go. And I was all, "Dude! You know I have all the love in the world for you! But I also have all the hate in the world for people in general. Especially those that I don't already know!" And I was literally so, so, so sad that he was mad at me. But then he texted me about Bobby O's "I'm So Hot For You" and I totally forgot about silly things like "friendship" and "feelings" and remembered that the only things that matter in this world are bangers and ultra-bangers. Like this:

Chaz Van Queen + Dash Speaks

More New York City things. Chaz Van Queen's new track. "Bring Your Smile." Off his forthcoming record, #ASMILEFORYOU. Quiet. Relaxed. Beautiful. And the cut's got remixes coming from Turbz, Jack of Knifeshow, and Obey City? Yea? Seriously? Bomb, bomb, bomb. The final product. The whole package. Yea, it's gonna be something special.

Bring Your Smile by ChazVanQueen

Oh yea. And the kid Dash Speaks. Has a new remix. And it terrifies me. Maybe because it's a spooky "Monster Mash" remix. Or because I'm scared of dubstep because I'm old. But this. This is terrifying. And fun. See you in all of my Halloween sets these next few days, Dash Speaks remix.

HOHME + Florence & The Machine + Afrojack + Leona Lewis + Mark Knight + Avicii + Superskank

OK. So there's this kid I know. HOHME. Who does heaps of cool stuffs. Like win Let's Mix competitions. And go to Puerto Rico on that entrepreneurial tip. And DJ some of NYC's most popping daytime parties. And blah. Blah. Etc. And so on and so forth.

Anyways, the kid does mash-ups. Or blends. Or whatever. And I mean, usually that sort of thing isn't really. Well. My thing. At all. But HOHME? He pulls it off. You know. Like it's evident that he spent more than fifteen minutes on each of these. Which of course is more than can be said for most people's mash-ups. Dude puts in the work, and he gets results. Quality music songs for your earholes:

Joy Division + Youth + Oliver

Goodness gracious. The kid Youth. His edits. Absolutely flawless stuff. So you know that feeling where you see a remix or edit of one of your favorite tracks somewhere? And you're all, "OMGeez, I can't wait to hear this!" And then it totally sucks butt. And you're all, "OMGeez, it's ruined! Wah!" Well that'll never happen with Youth. Dude stays making nice, tasteful edits of all things wonderful. This here track is no exception:

Joy Division - Shes Lost Control (Young Edits Voices In Her Edit) by Young Edits // Youth

Also. The Texas Rangers. How are they so nice at baseball? Nelson Cruz. Where did he come from last series? Mike Napoli. When did he decide that he could, you know, play defense? Derek Holland. When did he start bodying folks in the postseason? CJ Wilson. OK, well CJ still can't pitch a playoff game to save his life. Shouts to consistency. Oh, and Oliver made another good song. Duh.

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs + Fur Coat + Argenis Britto

Went to some restaurant or diner or something after my gig last night. At like 5:30 in the morning? I think. And had chicken and waffles. Three (3) pieces of fried chicken. One (1) waffle. OD (OD) syrup. Dummied it. Passed out. Woke up. Oh yea, I ordered fries last night too! Brunched with my cat. Reheated the fries in the oven. Sour cream and onion chips. Banana. (Cat food for Greg the cat.) Swag me out on the good life, bro.

College + Electric Youth + MegaMan + Panic City

OK. So I'm sitting in bed eating a PowerBar and watching Gossip Girl like the champion that I am. And thinking about how much I hate my so-called "friends" for being too cool to go to En Vogue with me last night. So I open Spotify. But then I'm all, "Spotify? Meh, whatever." So I close Spotify, open iTunes, and pause Gossip Girl. And I can't think of the purrfect song to say, "I'm sitting in bed with my cat and watching Gossip Girl and eating a PowerBar and wondering which sweater I should wear to my gig tonight." So I finally end up with this here remix. Which is a total banger. To which some of y'all might be all, "Ugh, how mainstream!" And I'm like, "Seriously? Chill. Get out of my internet zone, goober."

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah + Portugal. The Man + Turbz + NSR + Dash Speaks + DJ Half Price + DJ Salinger + Friendly Greg

CMJ. So my first CMJ. Drove down to NYC from New Hampshire. DJed the Big Stereo and Palms Out Sounds party. At some place. On the LES? Maybe? I have no idea, no recollection. It was my first time in NYC, gimme a break. I remember that I played right before Little Boots. And that I played a ton of Mylo. And that the right CDJ turned off in the middle of my set and I had a freakout.

Anyways. CMJ. Today. First up is the daytime party at The Ace Hotel. Portugal. The Man. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Zola Jesus. We Are Augustines. Beggars Group. Free. Duh. What's not to like about that?

"When The War Ends" by Portugal. The Man by Portugaltheman

And then of course, the #AlmostFamous CMJ pseudo-showcase. Turbz. NSR. Dash Speaks. DJ Half Price. DJ Salinger. Myself. At The Blind Barber on 10th and B. From 10-4. Free, purr usual. Grown and sexy, purr usual. Etc. Less CMJ, more standard party time.

Moullinex + Brenmar

OK. So maybe this Moullinex video isn't exactly the most innovative video in the game. But like. It's quality. Maybe a tad monotonous. But it's comforting. Nice. Simple. Plus, the song? Yea, the song's aces. It's sunny, it's glittery, it's bouncy. I mean, it's a Moullinex track, you know? The club mix? Yea, that's my joint right there. Stream the whole EP (released in January on Gomma) and watch the video below.

Moullinex - Sunflare EP by Moullinex

Plus Brenmar's new track "Let Me Hit Dat." Released to promote his upcoming European tour with Dillon Francis and Melé. Kind of a banger. Repetitive vocals. Infectious percussion. Brenmar percussion, that is. On second thought, not kind of a banger. Total banger. And a free download. Yep.

RCMP

So my parents are in town. With my cousin and her husband. So I set my alarm and was all, "Hangovers be darned, umma chill with my family today!" But yo. They won't call me back. Why don't they love me? Why don't they wanna see me? Are they too busy shopping or something? Brunching? Clubbing? Mom. Dad. Cousin. Guy married to my cousin. Please call me. I want to look like I have friends.

Also. The new RCMP EP is heat. "Love the Music" is my jam. But like. The whole thing's fiery.

Justice + The Magician + Tyson

So Tyson's new release. "After You're Gone." Pretty awesome, right? And the remixes by Solo, Joe Goddard, and Legowelt. Pretty ticey as well, no? But predictably enough, my favorite of the bunch is The Magician's take. Now if only his Wolf Gang remix would pop up already. Christ almighty, yeesh.

Tyson "After You're Gone" (The Magician Remix) by TheMagician

Also. The new Justice album. What do people think? Oh wait. What's that? Oh yea. I don't care. I'm firmly committed to my opinion that Audio, Video, Disco is beyond illington. Like "Helix"? Are you kidding me? Get outta here. What a flippin' banger. Listen to it and cop the album teaser below. (In case you can't find it online. Or you're one of the fourteen people in the world that still has the integrity to buy music. Etc.)

Beyoncé + Jack Beats + Ashley Wild

Remember Dan Kagan? Yea, me neither. Not a very memorable dude. Anyways, he and I used to jam Jack Beats tracks like nobody's business. Like. Jack Beats, Nacho Lovers, Soulwax, Justice, Jokers of the Scene. That's about it.

But I hadn't really rocked anything of theirs for a wee bit. "Revolution" was the only song I listened to on the train other than "Teach Me How to Dougie" when I moved to New York. But beyond that? Nothing really. But then the Beyoncé remix happened. I mean "Countdown" was a jam before Jack Beats got their hands on it. And the remix? It goes hard. Maybe not necessarily better or worse than the original, but definitely great to have in certain situations.

Beyonce: Countdown (JACK BEATS REMIX) by Jack Beats

And then there's Ashley Wild's "Riding In The Red." Yea. I dunno anything about this track. Like literally anything. Like I have no idea. Seriously. The most informative post I could find about this track simply said, "Here's a song, we don't know if or when it will be released." Or something like that. So yea. Quite literally no idea. But it's a banger, no?

Funkin Matt + Foamo + Almost Famous

Ayo. Peoples. I'm DJing tonight. At The Blind Barber. 10th and B from 10-4. It's gonna be radical. Umma play tons of house and disco and Morrissey. NSR and Dash will play hip-hop and indie dance and etc. Or something. It'll be a blast and a half. I'd really like to see you there.

Anyways. Music. Funkin Matt's "Crescendo." I'll be darned if this isn't one of the most epic songs in the songiverse. In the blogosphere. Whatever. One year after its release and it still makes me feel like I could fist-pump my way up to the heavens. Massive.

Funkin Matt - Crescendo (FJ001) by funkinmatt

Anyways. Something that I might actually play at The Blind Barber tonight. Foamo's "Ocean Drive." Foxy. Ultra vibes. OK. Maybe a wee bit too summery for October in NYC, especially with impending rain tonight. But eh. Whatever. Umma play it regardless.

The Knocks + Solidisco

So The Knocks are one of the few groups whose originals I enjoy more than their remixes. Most cats I'm all, "Ayo, ill remix!" And then I hear an original track and it's like, "Nah dogs, not working. I still have love for you. But like. This isn't working." But then there's B-Roc and J-Patt. Remixes? On point. Originals? Even more so. "Make It Better" was my jam. "Dancing with the DJ" was killer. "Sunshine" has been getting serious plays. And the new joint "Brightside"? Probably their biggest tune yet.

Brightside by The Knocks

Also. Solidisco is DJ Dstar and Biacco. I dunno who Biacco is, but I'm sure he's a splendid young man. Dstar, on the other hand, I know. And this is one of the hardest working gents in the game. Production grind. Mixtape grind. Turntablism grind. This dude is literally never not grinding. And it's paying off. "Oughta Be" is a heater. Buy it now.

Oughta Be (Original Mix) **OUT NOW ON YOUNG ROBOTS** by Solidisco

(Somewhat related: I have no idea how to type his name. Is it "Dstar"? "DStar"? "D.Star"? Wild confused over here.)

NSR + Turbz

So once upon a time I did not know NSR. But I went to his rap show because I didn't have any "friends" in New York and he was an "acquaintance" so he put me on the "guest list" because "I had nothing better to do." Anyways, he and Turbz had just finished a new joint. Called "That Girl." And I was totally feeling it. "OMG, this song's so good," I proclaimed. And blah, blah, blah, etc.

Anyways. The track's gonna be used during The CW's Ringer tomorrow night. In a club scene. Speakers going hammer. There will probably be a fake DJ fist pumping. With impecable bone structure. But too much hair gel. So watch the show. Download the song. Then meet the kids at Botanica afterwards to congratulate them on becoming mega OD famous.

College + Kavinsky + Breakbot + Electric Youth

OK. So I hadn't seen a movie in theaters since No Country for Old Men. Which was like four years ago or something. Then I went and saw Drive. Everyone was all, "OMG, it's so good!" Which it was. I think. I mean, I liked it. But I really couldn't get over how easily Ryan Gosling gets girls. Like seriously, bro? You just dip up and point your toothpick at a girl? And watch cartoons with her son? And smile like twice? And you're a go? Also, why are you chirping at girls with boyfriends? What's more, boyfriends that are about to get out of jail? Seriously?

College feat. Electric Youth - A Real Hero by College

Anyways. This soundtrack. Heaps of people coming at me like, "Have you heard of this guy 'Kavinsky' or something? So cool!" Look guys. I have two jobs: DJ, internet user. Obviously I know about Kavinsky. And yes, I know "the Kavinsky song from Drive." And I know the Breakbot remix. But no, I won't play it in this fratty bar that I'm currently DJing at. Now playing Katy Perry. Go away. Put on a leather jacket and listen to Kavinsky while you smoke cigarettes in between train cars. That's the way to be.

Nightcall (Breakbot remix) by Kavinsky

EDIT: To clarify. I love these songs. I don't think I mentioned that. Pretty sure I was too bitter moping. Recounting my struggles and the such.

Theophilus London + Tubetops + Blaz

My "friend" Blaz owes me a lot of money. And it's annoying. Like. Ayo Blaz, gimme my money. Ayo Blaz, you can't pay me in awesome remixes of "Aquamarine." Ayo Blaz, stop listening to Annie Mac so heavy on Fridays. Ayo Blaz, you're good peoples. Ayo Blaz, what up? Ayo, songs are radical!

TUBETOPS - Aquamarine (Blaz RMX) by LABLAZEMUSEK

In other news. Does Theophilus London have crazy terrible posture or something? Or is he just walking like that for the video? Because I've got truly awful posture. And I guess I'm just trying to find some common ground with Theophilus, you know? To help me have a more personal connection to his art, right? Anyways, I love this song and blah, blah, blah:

Urchins + The-Dream + Turbz

What is "Xylophobe" supposed to mean? Is it an organism with a xylophone phobia? Or something? I have no idea, and it's ticking me off. I feel stupid. God. Isn't feeling stupid. Like. The worst thing ever? Ugh. Anyways, "Xylophobe." A not-so-new track from Urchins. Totally awesome though. You should buy it.

Xylophobe (Original Mix) by urchins

Also. I'm DJing at Bedlam tonight. 12:30-4. 40 Avenue C. Which is 4th and C. Should be super awesome. I'm gonna play a lot of pop. A lot of disco. A bit of house. A bit of indie dance or whatever it's called. A bit of hip-hop. A ton of new wave. Etc. Turbz is rocking from 10-12:30. I mean. This is gonna be so fun, friends. Come say hi, friends.

Clubfeet + The C90s + RAC + Willow Smith + Nicki Minaj

This new Clubfeet single is on some serious seriousness. For one, "Last Words" is fabulous all on its own. Then came the remixes. The RAC tune is on that fun indie dance tip. And it's great. (It is RAC, after all.) Still, I gotta say the remix The C90s whipped up is the one for me. A little more disco. Every bit as fun. Both tracks are great, but this The C90s joint's killing me:

Clubfeet - Last Words (The C90s Remix) by helloclubfeet

Clubfeet - Last Words (RAC Maury Mix) by helloclubfeet

On an entirely different tip. The new Willow Smith track featuring Nicki Minaj. Dear sweet baby Jesus. What in the wide world did we simple humans do to deserve something so fiery, so ticey? I'm so happy, I'm so happy, gracious me.

Robyn + Jr. Blender

OK guys. So NSR and I are starting work on a Robyn mix tonight. Or tomorrow. I'm waiting for him to call as I type. Story of my life, right? Totally lame. Anyways, I was looking through my Robyn remixes to see what was what when I ran across this Jr. Blender reggae remix. Which is totally awesome. And I love it. Download it as well as a bunch of his other remixes (which are all equally fabulous) here.

DJ Dodger Stadium + Tubetops + Glowing Pains

We chatted briefly about DJ Dodger Stadium and Body High a few weeks ago. Remember? I was all hype about sharing their Stadium Status EP with y'all? But none of the tracks were available on the internet? Is any of this ringing a bell? Anywho, the video for the title track can be found below. This is what Drive would've been like if the soundtrack had revolved around DJ Dodger Stadium instead of Kavinsky. Am I right?

Also. New tracks from my old friends Tubetops. Totally super cool. Plus a remix from another friend, Glowing Pains. Radical! Radical, radical, radical, totally radical! The tunes? Radical. The artwork? Also radical. Everything about this is crazy radical. Good job, friends!

Marina and the Diamonds + Brenmar

So I was lucky enough to meet Marina a few weeks ago, and oh my goodness. Did everyone else already know that she's the most beautiful girl in the flippin' world? Am I super behind on this? Because I knew she was pretty. Beautiful, even. But little did I know that she was literally the most attractive young woman in the gosh darned galaxy. I was absolutely flabbergasted. Not that it takes much to make me flabbergasted, but still.

Unrelated: her new track "Radioactive" is going murder clubs. This track is humungous.

Also. New Brenmar track. Thrown up on SoundCloud a week ago, dropping on Halloween. And it's your typical Brenmar song. Smooth, sexy dance music for dark rooms. Can't wait.

Sneaky Sound System + Oliver + Meek Mill + Young Chris

Sneaky Sound System has a new album dropping on Friday. In Australia and New Zealand, that is. It comes out on Monday the 17th for the rest of the galaxy. So ready. Their self-titled album was huge. "UFO"? Total banger. Anywho, the new album. "Big." Another banger. Unsurprisingly, the Oliver remix is LVLz as well.

Sneaky Sound System - Big (Oliver Remix) by weareoliver

Also. So I DJed a Food Network party hosted by Bobby Flay last night. Riding home in my friend's car. Hot 97. Meek Mill track featuring Young Chris comes on. Yea, I'm feeling this:
